Episode 85: 6 Business Apps We're Geeking Out About in 2021
Today, Ben and Mark spend some quality time talking about some of their favorite things — one of which is nerdy tech stuff. In this episode, they explore a whole new suite of business apps they can’t live without. Buckle up!
Top business apps we've been geeking out about in 2021
Noted - Ben's #3 Recommendation
Noted is beautiful. It’s a really well-designed app that brings your notes and audio together in a really user-friendly way. Basically, you use your phone to record the audio and take notes, it time-stamps your notes with the audio, so when you reference your notes you can actually playback the audio that ways playing when you took them. It’s so smart!
Convert Calculator - Mark's #3 Recommendation
With Convert Calculator you can create your own calculators to embed on your site as a lead generator, price quoting, order forms, ROI & savings, loan & debt calculators, and so much more. Mark’s using it to allow people to build and price out their professional headshot packages. He’s found that it also filters out unqualified leads so they are saving time focusing on high-quality leads. He’s loving it!
Notion - Ben's #2 Recommendation
Notion is basically an all-in-one workspace. You can connect all of your data, teams, projects, action items, CRM, and notes all in one place. It’s allowed us to streamline and simplify a lot of our processes — if you know Ben, then you know efficiency is his Kryptonite, he can’t resist it.
We’re working on tracking projects and leads with it. We’ve found that it offers more flexibility than Asana, it’s cleaner than Hubspot, and has more structure than google docs or dropbox paper. It’s beautiful, really well made, and at a super reasonable price. Get nerdy with it.
Pixieset - Mark's #2 Recommendation
Pixieset is geared for photographers, it’s basically a repository for your personal and/or client images. Essentially you can upload all of your images and it creates a beautiful gallery that you can send to your clients. You can even apply your company’s branding. Your client can easily download the images or order prints. It’s really user-friendly.
Mark also uses it each year to create a photo album of their family for his wife for Christmas, and he sends the digital version to grandparents and extended family.
Miro - Ben's #1 Recommendation
Miro is an online collaborative whiteboard. It’s an infinite, live canvas, where you and your team members can work together in real-time. You can create workflows, mind-maps, wireframes and so much more. It’s geared towards teams that work remotely, they even have a Zoom integration.
Bonsai - Mark's #1 Recommendation
Bonsai is designed for creatives. It helps you craft and send legal documents, like proposals, contracts, invoices, and even record expenses. Mark has been using it for over a decade and he loves that it handles the legal stuff. If you are a freelance, self-employed creative, this one is for you!
Bonus App: Soulver
Soulver allows you to speak your problem and they transform them into equations. It refers to itself as “a playground for ideas involving math”. It’s a nice mix between notepaper and a calculator. Ben introduced Soulver in our last app round-up and Mark has fallen head over heels for it. Give it a try, it’s revolutionary.
